Packers vs. Saints Week 3: Post-Game Review
Image Source: https://lombardiave.com/ NFL Week 3 was interesting, to say the least. The Bills, surprisingly, are crashing the party by beating the Rams. The Seahawks were unstoppable. The Falcons have been consistently disappointing - doing so well in the first quarters only to crash and burn at the final stretch. There’s so much to sift through, but let’s focus on our agenda. The Green Bay Packers, for the second straight year, are now 3-0. The New Orleans Saints, yet again, gave us the greatest upset of the week. This match takes the Week 3 center stage for me. Let’s not act surprised that Aaron Rodgers didn’t take the spotlight here. First, that vicious hard count. Right when the Packers were rushing to a 3-point lead late in the fourth quarter, Rodgers did what he does best: a hard count that pushed linebacker Demario Davis offside. Then the fire was set in motion. Rodgers saw the chance to pull off a 1-yard touchdown pass to Robert Tonyan, which he did so gracefully. The QB finished with 283 yards on 21-of-32 passing and three touchdowns. But let’s also give credit where credit is due - Matt LaFleur. The Packers’ robust offense line was all him, considering he only brought four wide receivers to the field. And these are WRs that haven’t really made a mark yet. And they delivered. If there’s one weak spot, it’s the Packers’ defensive line. You would expect more with Kenny Clark there, but game after game their defenses just ended up getting breached with a lot of holes. Nevertheless, a solid 37-30 victory for the Packers in Week 3. The Saints, on the other hand, have a lot of work to do. This is their second painful defeat in a row, after getting sacked by the Raiders in Week 2. There’s still so much to unpack in the coming weeks.
